A Message from the 2016 ISA President, Sheriff Jeff Cappa, Wayne County Sheriff's Office
July 08, 2016

In light of the current events happening in our country, the President of the Indiana Sheriffs' Association, Sheriff Jeff Cappa, would like to give the following statement.

"This week has proven to be a difficult time for law enforcement with two separate police action shootings and the unprovoked attack on the Dallas officers last evening. The national media has been busy covering each of these events which has fueled anti law enforcement sentiment and in some cases, actual support for our local law enforcement agencies.

With that said, I would like to impress the importance of maintaining a heightened awareness of officer safety for our staff and office. The unfortunate social climate within the last year at times has not been very supportive of law enforcement when involved in high profile incidents such as these. Please remember to show your local law enforcement officers how much you appreciate their steadfast dedication and protection during these difficult periods.

Thank you to each of you for the support you give to your local agency, other sheriffs and fellow officers throughout this great nation. We as an association will continue to support our members and staff with the greatest of professionalism. Our thoughts and prayers are with those who have been touched by this senseless act of violence."
